Biography

James Abbott is an experienced commercial litigator and trial attorney who practices in a wide variety of civil litigation areas, with an emphasis on professional liability defense, product liability defense, and the defense of catastrophic injuries and wrongful death claims.  With respect to professional liability, James has successfully defended physicians, nurses, dentists, hospitals, long term care facilities, pharmacies and pharmacists, and others in the healing arts, as well as attorneys, accountants, architects, engineers, churches and clergy.  James’ extensive product liability defense experience primarily includes the representation of companies in lawsuits involving mass torts, toxic torts, asbestos and other hazardous substances.  James has also defended numerous premises owners, construction companies, and manufacturers in personal injury claims, employment matters, and commercial disputes.  He is a member of the Illinois Society of Trial Lawyers and has been named an Illinois Super Lawyer in civil litigation.
