Biography

Peter Van Dyke is Senior Litigation Claim Counsel/ Oversight Director in CNA’s Commercial Major Litigation Unit.  Peter has been with CNA for 11 years, serving in litigation management positions in the Claim and Law Departments during his tenure.
Peter is responsible for developing and implementing successful claim, litigation and settlement strategies for the defense of CNA’s highest-exposure liability and coverage matters across CNA’s Commercial and Property books.  He has successfully resolved numerous multi-million dollar claims through direct participation and negotiation and has successfully directed a multitude of cases through trial and appeal.
Prior to joining CNA, Peter practiced insurance defense law in Indiana and Florida for 15 years, trying over 20 cases to verdict in the State and Federal Courts in each State. Peter has served as a lecturer on litigation management at various insurance industry conferences including ALFA, TIDA, USLAW and The Network of Trial Law Firms.Peter earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of the Ozarks in 1987 and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Notre Dame in 1990. He is an active member of the Florida, Indiana and Illinois bars and is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts in the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida and the Northern District of Indiana.
