Biography

Mr. Acosta has over 20 years of civil litigation trial experience. He has litigated thousands of cases throughout various counties in Florida, and tried cases in courthouses from Palm Beach down to Monroe County. Mr. Acosta has been AV rated for over a decade, signifying the highest level of experience, and professionalism as rated by his peers through Martindale Hubbell. He has a 10 out of 10 AVVO rating, has been named a Florida Trend Legal Elite (2016), and been listed as a top attorney by the South Florida Business Journal every year since 2011. I have been featured in ALMs South Florida Top Rated Lawyers.

Born and raised, in South Florida, Mr. Acosta knows the venue well. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, partially on a scholarship from the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States, from Florida International University (“FIU”) in Miami. While there, he was asked to participate in the Student Honors Mentor Program, a privilege granted only to those students achieving academic excellence. He was also Chapter Chair of the Fl. Public Interest Research Group. As acting chair, he facilitated the weekly meetings and led several committees. One committee, which consisted of a mock election used to encourage student votes, received local media coverage.

His law degree also came from a local institution, Nova Southeastern University. Upon graduation in 1996, he joined a local defense law firm as a litigation associate in the Miami office. Shortly thereafter, he became the litigation manager for the Miami office. In December 2000 they extended an invitation which made Mr. Acosta a name partner in the firm. While there he brought numerous trials successfully to verdict.
