Caryn Siebert Named 2024 CLM Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree

January 11, 2024

Caryn Siebert, vice president of carrier practice and director of carrier engagement at Gallagher Bassett, will be honored with the 2024 CLM Lifetime Achievement Award – sponsored by Compex Legal Services, Inc. – during the CLM Annual Conference in San Francisco held April 2-4. A highly regarded presence in the claims and litigation management field for over 35 years, Caryn is being recognized for her career accomplishments and her commitment to the industry, especially CLM.

“When I think of someone who is focused on giving back to the industry, Caryn is always the first person who comes to mind,” says Ronna Ruppelt, CEO of CLM. “She is a contributor to industry-related charities like Kids’ Chance of California and is often found mentoring professionals new to insurance. I’m honored that CLM is right there at the top of her priority list. She has participated as a speaker in more than 120 virtual and in-person events with us over the last 15 years. Ask anyone, Caryn is known and respected across the industry. More importantly, she is a kind and genuine person.

“What a tremendous honor,” says Caryn. “Throughout my career, in addition to doing my ‘job,’ I have constantly given back to the claims, legal, and workers’ compensation community, mentored others, coached employees and connected people to one another, not to win awards but because it’s the right thing to do. My career has taken a variety of twists and turns, I have learned from so many, and believe in passing this knowledge forward, especially through my involvement in CLM. It’s part of why I love my role at Gallagher Bassett, where I work with great colleagues at all levels exchanging insights. This award symbolizes an appreciation for the legacy I am still creating via my impact and connectivity across the insurance industry and CLM community.”

As vice president of carrier practice and director of carrier engagement, she formulates strategic initiatives and helps build lasting and productive claims and risk management partnerships in the national casualty carrier marketplace for Gallagher Bassett. Caryn collaborates with industry leaders as they seek out creative and efficient alternatives to optimize their claims outcomes in both ongoing and discontinued lines of business and create better experiences for their injured workers by partnering with Gallagher Bassett.

Prior to this role, Caryn led claims operations at Knight Insurance Group during which time she was named 2017 CLM Litigation Management Professional of the Year and Ollie Award Winner by West Coast Casualty. Before that she spent a decade as CEO of Carl Warren & Company where the organization made the 2014 Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies and was awarded the National ESOP Company of the Year for 2013. She also spent time as chief claims officer of Safeco Insurance in Washington, director of commercial claims for GE Employers Reinsurance in Kansas, and SVP of claims and customer operations/general counsel for GE Coregis in Illinois. Preceding that, Caryn served as assistant general counsel for Crum & Forster in New Jersey and practiced law at LeBoeuf, Lamb in New York.

In addition to being a caring daughter who periodically invites her delightful mom to attend conference social gatherings, Caryn has been honored by her peers many times. In addition to CLM recognizing her as one of our Professional of the Year Awardees in 2017, her accolades include the 2023 Cal State Fullerton Industry Leadership Award, 2023 Comp Laude Award Winner for Philanthropy, 2020 RISE Mentor of the Year, the 2019 NRRDA President’s Award, and 2010 Business Insurance Women to Watch, among others.

Registration for the 2024 CLM Annual Conference is open. Caryn will receive her award during the April 3 Keynote at 5pm followed by the Taste of San Francisco Kickoff Party. Join her there to celebrate her incredible – and ongoing – career and impact on the mission and membership of CLM. Event details: https://bit.ly/3TgvF2
