Ever Changing Landscape of Biometrics

November 08, 2023 10:00 AM ET

Increasingly, companies are using biometric data, such as fingerprints and retinal scans, as a convenient way to improve security. From touchpads that unlock smartphones and computers, to scanners providing access to places of business, biometric data seems to be a fast, easy, and secure way to authenticate individuals and unlock access. However, the collection and storing of biometric data can be risky, and the regulatory landscape is changing.  As such, insurance coverage for claims alleging violation of biometric data privacy laws may be creating coverage gaps. This session will address an overview of biometric liability risk, real world applications of organizations using biometric data, legal, and regulatory developments, coverage issues related to biometric claims, and expected future developments.

Active Shooter Scenarios

November 08, 2023 2:30 PM ET

2023 is breaking records for being the most violent year over the past decade. Most organizations are unprepared for the worst-case scenario, yet they know they can be held liable for claims relating to deadly weapon violence. Failure to prepare and protect against these events not only could result in harm to your critical assets—your people, your brand, your reputation—but they can also result in business interruption and economic harm. This panel will share compelling data and real-life, hands-on experiences in both prevention of and response to deadly weapon events. They will share case studies ranging from large scale events involving fatalities and injuries to circumstances where violence was prevented from the outset. Attendees will leave with proactive strategies they can employ to help prevent, prepare for, and respond to this exposure, as well as post-event strategies that can be deployed immediately to reduce both frequency and severity of claims.
