CLM’s June Focus conference, which is set to address topics including claims and litigation; product liability; transportation, and diversity and inclusion, is going virtual this month. Below, CLM’s conference planners offer answers to some commonly asked questions about the event.

How do I sign up? What if I was already signed up to attend in person?

Everyone registered for the in-person event has been automatically registered for the virtual event. Registration for the virtual event is free to CLM membership and available on CLM’s website, theclm.org.

Will any CE be available in this virtual format?

Yes, CE is being offered for several sessions. Check the schedule at theclm.org for more information.

Can you give an example of the kinds of sessions and information available in each track?

In the Claims & Litigation track, the session “Bridging the Great Divide: Political and Social Issues Impacting Claims” will discuss how the political divide in our society affects claims management and what we can do to address those challenges.

In the Product Liability track, the session “DANGER! Defending the Product Liability Failure to Warn Claim” will explore product warnings under OSHA standards, the Hazardous Communications Act, common law, and other applicable regulations.

For the Transportation track, the session “Nuclear Trucking Verdicts: Nationwide Trends and Defenses” offers a review of current nuclear verdicts, discusses trends and aggravating factors present in these verdicts, and provides concrete examples of how claims professionals, trucking companies, and defense attorneys can collaborate to combat nuclear verdicts with the preparation of corporate representatives for deposition and trial.

Lastly, for the Diversity & Inclusion track, the session “R-E-S-P-E-C-T Is My Preferred Pronoun” will address the overall importance of creating a diverse, inclusive, and respectful environment in the insurance marketplace and will address emerging issues regarding the use of preferred pronouns, gender identity, and discrimination.

How will the virtual event be similar to an in-person event? How will it differ?

We are able to bring the virtual event to our membership at no cost thanks to our sponsors and our outside counsel members who support the CLM year after year. While we won’t be together in person, we will be adding in fun elements throughout the conference to help attendees connect with one another and with sponsors. We have lots of fun surprises planned. No one does events—in person or virtual—like CLM.
