Beginnings and Endings

It’s August, which means the start of another school year is just around the corner. For some, this signals a new beginning, like those students heading off to Claims College next month in Philadelphia. This is a big year for Claims College—more than 100 students are getting ready to graduate with their Certified Claims Professional (CCP) designation, a process that required a three-year commitment to their school’s specialization. These folks are the early adopters, having seen the promise of Claims College when it was nothing more than an idea. Their hard work and dedication to completing their school’s curriculum is something of which they and everyone in the CLM should be proud. Go behind the scenes of Claims College on page 39.

With new beginnings come endings. We’re wrapping up another summer of CLM internships, an outstanding initiative that places college seniors with insurers and insurance-related companies in an eight-week, paid program. Like most CLM events, the personal connections that these students make—and the impressions they leave—often exceed the professional goals they initially sought. See how these CLM-supporting companies are showing this younger generation what a career in insurance is really all about on page 30, and be prepared to be inspired by a few new recruits.
