April 01, 2020
I’ve never used the term “pivot” more in my life than in the past few weeks. I’m starting to feel like Ross on that “Friends” episode where he, Rachel, and Chandler are moving a sofa.
A few short weeks ago, the CLM team and many of our members and fellows were preparing for our scheduled Annual Conference in Dallas. As the COVID-19 situation developed, our conference—along with countless other conferences, weddings, and other large gatherings—were cancelled or postponed. I’m so proud of how quickly our staff and speakers were able to pivot some of our planned live panel sessions from the Annual Conference into our Day of Learning webinars. We had more than 1,100 people join us for our webinars that day.
During this time, we’ll be hosting more virtual learning experiences for our membership to make sure that even though we cannot gather together in person, we will gather virtually for education. We’ll be hosting a series of COVID-19 webinars during the month of April, too. I hope you’ll be able to join us for any that are relevant to your work.
We’ll also be moving our joint Workers Compensation and Retail, Restaurant & Hospitality Conference from May to June in Chicago. We’re pairing it up with our June Focus event that offers content on Diversity & Inclusion, Product Liability, Transportation, and Claims & Litigation Management. I hope to see many of you there, and if the COVID-19 situation continues to prohibit traveling at that time, we’ll just pivot again.
During uncertain times, it’s good to have a strong community of support with you. I’m grateful for the CLM community and the support you all share. Please know that we are here for each other now and always.
Stay well.
