As we celebrate our biggest Universal Claims Certification (UCC) success to date with Texas Governor Greg Abbott signing into law our bill that provides better reciprocity for continuing education to UCC holders, I’m reminded that it is your thoughts and ideas that give our organization direction. Created to tackle the challenge claims professionals face with having to secure and maintain licenses in multiple states, the UCC is just one of many ways the CLM listened to you and acted on behalf of the claims and litigation management industries. In conjunction with the CLM Advisory Board, all of us at the CLM work diligently to serve you, our membership, and the industry.
Similarly, Arrowpoint Capital’s Ron Mazariegos recently had the idea to create a Cannabis Committee. Initially, this group will work with other CLM communities and committees to provide cannabis-related content for CLM conferences, magazines, newsletters, and webinars. As cannabis and related claims and litigation management issues continue to develop, it is foreseeable that this committee will grow (no pun intended) into a community and have a conference of its own. If you’re interested in participating on this committee, please contact Khadijah Johnson at khadijah.johnson@theclm.org.
As another example, one of the ideas that came early in my tenure as CEO was from CLM Fellow and Advisory Board Member Dan Winkler, director, claims legal support, at Westfield Group. As a result of his idea and hard work with attorney Dan Costello, we’re proud to announce that we’re hosting our first Litigation Management Symposium in Chicago this October.
I always enjoy hearing from CLM members and fellows to identify opportunities to better serve you. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time.
