The foundation of the CLM is connecting with others and creating strong networks. In the past year, the CLM has been taking that concept even further by establishing connections with other not-for-profit industry organizations. It all started when Dwight Geddes invited me to speak on a panel at the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) conference.
Following that NAAIA conference, we formed a strategic partnership with NAAIA and connected our respective local chapters so they could collaborate on events. Our first co-branded event was held in New York last year and was a huge hit with the membership of both organizations. We’ve since collaborated on other events and presentations. Several members of NAAIA recently presented an amazing panel discussion during our virtual CLM June Focus Conference.
We’ve also created a relationship with the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud. Long-time CLM member, Matthew Smith, joined the Coalition in 2018 and was appointed executive director in 2020. CLM and the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud then connected with the International Association of Special Investigation Units (IASIU) to present a joint webinar related to COVID-19.
CLM also just hosted its first joint webinar with the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS). The webinar on the impact of the pandemic on professional lines claims was tremendously popular with both CLM and PLUS membership.
All of these connections strengthen the CLM’s position in the market and ensure that we continue to bring our membership education from the top minds in the industry. We look forward to continuing to develop these relationships and foster connections with other industry organizations and leaders.
