A year ago when I joined the CLM as CEO, I got to go inside the organization that I’d been a member of for so long, and I was overwhelmed with gratitude for all that our membership has contributed over the years and for all of the hard work the CLM staff does every day. One year later, I’m even more grateful to our membership and staff as I’ve seen the dedication and commitment you all give to our organization and the industry.
We’ve just wrapped our busiest conference season of the year. Starting with Claims College in Baltimore in early September and ending with the Litigation Management Institute in Chicago in late October, our staff has put in countless hours and miles crisscrossing the country. They hit the road early to make it to Claims College before Hurricane Dorian was forecast to strike near our main offices in southern Florida, and have spent many weekends, early mornings, and late nights working to make sure each event is a success. I’m lucky to have such a great team making sure we deliver for our membership.
My favorite part of all these events is having the opportunity to meet and talk to so many of you. I spend much of my time speaking to CLM Members and Fellows on the phone, so it’s always a treat to be able to talk to so many of you face to face—and better yet to be able to do so over a cocktail or a relaxing meal. The CLM has grown to the organization it is today because of the community you all have created. You share your time and expertise graciously to help strengthen and advance the industry. Thank you.
While we dubbed 2019 the year of gratitude at CLM, we’ve started calling 2020 the year of community. CLM is a community unlike any other. While there are many professional associations, I see and feel firsthand every day how strong our community is. From large national events to small local chapter gatherings, our community is strong and thriving, all because of each and every one of you and, of course, the fantastic CLM staff.
I hope to see you at a CLM event in the coming months. And, as always, feel free to reach out to me at any time.
