We’re in the thick of planning our 2020 Annual Conference next month in Dallas, and I’m personally very excited about our CCO Mini-Summit and several Annual Conference sessions on the hot topic of nuclear verdicts. Just like our Litigation Management Symposium last year, our focus on the nuclear verdict topic and the formation of a working group to tackle education on this issue was the idea brought to us by our membership. We’re listening—just check out this issue’s cover—and if there are other topics you’d like to see us address, let me know.

While the Annual Conference will once again be a stellar event, we recognize not everyone is able to attend that event (in fact, there’s a waiting list for our outside counsel members). In addition to our other larger conferences throughout the year, don’t forget about your Local Chapter.

We have more than 50 Local Chapters in many states across the country. You can find a complete map and listing on the CLM website under “Our Network.” One of the many great things about our Local Chapters is that there is no additional fee to join them. If you belong to the CLM, you are automatically a member of your Local Chapter.

Under the guidance of our National Chairs, Cathy Gicker, senior claim consultant at Allstate and Jim Davis, vice president, risk management strategies at Matrix Risk Management Solutions, our Regional Chairs and Local Chapter Leadership work diligently to make sure we are bringing top-notch education and networking opportunities to you on a local level. Each chapter strives to have four events annually, with most them offering CE and CLE.

Did I mention that most Local Chapter events are free? It’s true. Thanks to our amazing sponsors, you can attend most Local Chapter events at no cost. To make sure you are getting email invitations to the events near you, update your CLM profile to include an accurate physical address. Your profile includes both your mailing address (which we know is often a centralized corporate location) and your physical address. That physical address can be your home office address or local field office address. The physical address is what we use to make sure you are invited to participate in your Local Chapter. You can update that by signing into your CLM profile on our website or by contacting David Meisner, CLM’s membership engagement manager at david.meisner@theclm.org.
