Should women consider the insurance industry a good place for a successful career without limits?

“Undoubtedly, yes. The opportunities for smart, motivated women are limitless. After years in private practice, I began my insurance career handling professional liability claims and was soon asked to manage the team. Today, my team consists entirely of women with a similar experience.”

1. CARYN SILVERMAN, Senior Vice President, Claims Counsel, Endurance Insurance. CLM Fellow since 2011.

“Absolutely. I’ve noticed an increasing number of women in senior claims and management and attribute that to the industry’s early recognition of the importance of diversity and inclusion. Those initiatives have impacted the number of women attorneys who handle insurance cases.”

2. DEBORAH W. YUE, Partner, Gallagher Sharp. CLM Member since 2011.

“Opportunities for women have continued to evolve over my 25 years in insurance. I have seen women increasingly represented in key leadership positions. Given these advancements, I am optimistic about the future of women leaders in our industry.”

3. SONIA M. VALDES, Vice President, Claims, Medmarc Insurance Company. CLM Fellow since 2012.

“Yes. The industry’s interdisciplinary nature means our natural ability to multitask is embraced and rewarded, and considering our skill sets are also well-suited for mentorship and training, there’s a lot of opportunity in the current boom.”

4. DOVE A.E. BURNS, Partner, Goldberg Segalla. CLM Member since 2012.
