CLM’s Annual Conference is just around the corner, kicking off on March 29, 2023, in Tampa, Fla. Since its inception, this event has always packed a one-two punch by delivering the best educational content paired with one-of-a-kind social experiences designed to get attendees networking and having fun. Here is what you can expect at this year’s event.
This year’s conference theme, “Ready. Set. Future,” is evident in the conference’s keynote kickoff, which will feature futurist Nancy Giordano discussing the opportunities waiting for attendees in 2023 and beyond. The “future” theme carries over to the agenda for the rest of the conference, too, in which sessions will focus on how to future-proof careers in claims and litigation.
Following Giordano’s address, CLM will also announce our 2023 Lifetime Achievement award as well as our professionals of the year. Looking to nominate an exceptional claims and litigation management professional or outside counsel? Go to theclm.org by Feb. 10 to submit your candidates. Following the opening night action will be “CLM by the Sea,” in which attendees will get a chance to visit The Florida Aquarium privately and experience all sorts of CLM-style adventures.
New to the show this year will be two pre-conference workshops. The first is a coverage bootcamp designed to help attendees better understand the process for evaluating insurance coverage, preparing coverage correspondence, and developing claim strategies when coverage is questionable. The second workshop focuses on claims negotiation skills, teaching participants by way of an interactive case study the tools and strategies they can use to get to better resolutions. Both can be added to existing conference registrations at theclm.org, and space is limited.
Still not sure if you should attend? We asked those who have already registered for this year’s event to tell us what they are looking forward to the most; here’s what they had to say.
“CLM’s Annual Conference is always a professional highlight of my year,” said Michele Punturi, attorney-director, workers’ compensation, and member of the board of directors at Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin. “I am thrilled we will be back in person in sunny Tampa, and the ‘future’ theme is compelling. I look forward to hearing from industry leaders on topics that will impact litigation management moving forward. I always leave knowing more than when I came, with actionable takeaways that help to advance our organization’s goals.”
“I always look forward to reconnecting with my CLM friends that I have made over the years,” said Tara Acton, claims director and counsel at Lumen Technologies. “It’s the one time of year I get to see so many of them.”
“[I look forward to] presenting and catching up with colleagues and friends,” said Alex Malino, an attorney at Barry McTiernan & Moore. “[I’m] also excited to bring some young attorneys with me who will be experiencing CLM for the first time.”
“I’m most excited about broadening my network by participating in the dynamic breakout sessions and engaging with speakers and attendees during the reception events,” said Taylor Jones, vice president of business development at Questpro Consultants.
“It’s the networking and educational opportunities,” said Paul Copenhagen, casualty adjuster at NLC Insurance Companies.
“Reconnecting with my colleagues and sharing industry updates after having my first baby!” said Carly Falgout, partner at Clyde & Co.
