At a time when tensions are high and divisions are deep, I am grateful for our CLM community. We are a diverse group in all contexts of the word. Diversity has always been at the heart of the CLM. We recently formalized our diversity statement, and these sentences from that statement strongly resonate with me:
At the CLM, diversity is about recognizing the important perspectives and contributions each person brings to the organization and to the industry. We strive for a culture where everyone can be authentic, contribute, develop, and thrive.
This feels even more powerful as I sit here today trying to not be overwhelmed by the news of the day. While the CLM strives to set the standard for diversity and inclusion, we recognize that there are always opportunities to do better.
How do we encourage a diverse population to pursue careers in our industry? How can we make sure to foster the young careers of diverse professionals? These are just some of the questions we will continue to ask while we seek to continually effect real change. I hope you’ll join in those conversations and help CLM do what we can as a community to further the evolution of diversity, inclusion, and equity.
