January 01, 2021
We’ve never needed a new year more than we need 2021. We learned a lot in 2020 about ourselves, our businesses, and each other. One of my key takeaways from last year was that we’re all better when we’re kind to one another. In a year full of challenges, I think we often took more time to share kindness. Many of us were hanging on by a thread at different times throughout the year. We’ve pulled each other up and made it to 2021.
The problems we encountered last year created countless opportunities, as well. We couldn’t host our live events, so we found ways to conduct events and connect virtually. It wasn’t always easy, but we did it together!
We also found time to focus our attention on some exciting new initiatives. The despair we felt in May 2020 when George Floyd was killed has resulted in a strong movement and focus on diversity, equality, and inclusion. At the inspiration of some of our membership, CLM is embarking on an effort to create a CLM D&I Certificate for lawyers, firms, and service providers to help carriers and TPAs make informed decisions about contracting with diverse providers.
When we are able to gather in person in 2021, the lessons learned from this past year will not be forgotten. We’ll continue to work together to make each other better, and to make our industry better. We’ll continue to offer programming and services for those who do not attend our live events. We are more than an events company, we are a community, and we’ll continue to be innovative in how we serve all facets of our community.
Cheers to a better year ahead!
