Passion for the Profession

Whether it is the variety of work, the travel, or the feeling of helping someone in genuine need, CAT adjusters love their jobs, and it shows.

Gallup-Healthway’s Well-Being Index polls 1,000 people every day and asks them to rate themselves in six categories, including: life evaluation, emotional health, physical health, healthy behaviors, work environment, and access to basic necessities. It then compiles the results into monthly statistics.

April’s results were interesting in that only one category out of those six failed to increase from the month prior. Care to venture a guess as to which one? Here’s a hint: you’re probably there right now.

While all other categories inched upward, attitudes toward work environment dropped an entire point. On top of that, “work environment” already registered the lowest rating among all six categories with score of 47.5 . The average well-being index score for the entire month? 67.

Despite the old adage that “figures lie and liars figure,” it doesn’t take a genius to see that there are a lot of unhappy folks out there working jobs they not only dislike but also view as getting worse.

That’s why it was such a pleasure to put together this month’s feature with Crawford & Company on what independent CAT adjusters think about their jobs. It was refreshing to hear our five interviewees speak so positivity about our industry and express passion for the profession. Whether it is the variety of work, the travel, or the feeling of helping someone in genuine need, CAT adjusters love their jobs, and it shows.

With disaster season kicking off this month, it’s a good thing they do.
