“Tell me, and I forget. Teach me, and I may remember. Involve me, and I learn.” Wise words from Ben Franklin. And apropos as many of our family and friends embark on a new school year, whether it’s pre-school or post-graduate.
Learning is a lifelong experience that extends well beyond graduation. We can learn every day of our lives. As Ben said, involvement is the key to true learning. That’s what I find most valuable about CLM—the engaging experiences where our community connects to actively share their knowledge and help each other grow. I learn something new at every CLM event, and the 2021 Annual Conference was no exception. I had the pleasure to meet so many of you and listen to your thoughts on the future of CLM. I was inspired by the innovative insights of our speakers, the passion of our young professionals, and the achievements of our award winners. I returned home energized and full of ideas!
I’m equally excited for the cohort attending Claims College this month in pursuit of their CCP and ACP designations. They are the next generation of claims leaders learning from the best in the industry—such an incredible experience made possible by our dedicated volunteer faculty who give so much of their time to share their knowledge. As a former instructor in the School of Leadership, I understand what it takes to deliver such a robust curriculum, and I would like to thank the entire faculty!
As I begin the second month in my new role, I will continue to gather insights from the CLM membership and our team to learn how to best serve our community into the future as the industry rapidly evolves. This critical feedback will become the building blocks of our strategic initiatives for 2022. Stay tuned in the fourth quarter as I share my initial findings.
Remember, this is your community, and I want to hear your thoughts. If you’re attending Claims College or the Construction Conference this month, chat with me in person. Or simply send me an email. I am here to serve you, and I look forward to taking your CLM experience to the next level.
All the best –
