CCO CONNECT EXCLUSIVE
CLM's CCO Discussions webinar series kicked off in April with a webinar entitled, “Essential Resources to Address the Challenges of Catastrophe and Climate Risk,” featuring Christopher McDaniels, president, Catastrophe Resiliency Council. The Catastrophe Resiliency Council, an affiliate of The Institutes, is a not-for-profit that seeks to collaborate with risk- and insurance-focused parties to create a healthy, competitive risk marketplace that promotes resilience against natural catastrophes.
McDaniels discussed the importance of compiling, and making accessible, data to help predict and protect against catastrophic weather events. He also talked about Catstrophe Resiliency Council's Open Exposure Database, which will allow for the mixing and matching disparate catastrophe data from various sources. "Then, we are going to be using [artificial intelligence] to aggregate that data and put it into one data set that can then be utilized." The council has also created a website called The Anchorage “to be a one-stop-shop for all things catastrophe and climate risk,” according to McDaniels.
The CCO Discussions webinar series will feature many more key topics and high-level presenters throughout 2024. The next CCO Discussion, which will take place on May 9, 2024, will be “The Next Horizon for Litigation Management,” featuring speakers Jacqueline Montgomery, associate partner; and Deniz Cultu, partner, both with McKinsey & Company. They will discuss today’s challenges in litigation management, using analytics to assess claim litigation likelihood and value, optimizing case segmentation and assignment, and improving collaboration between handlers and counsel. Keep an eye out for more sessions to come throughout the year.
