Angela Cabado

Angela Cabado owes her rise at Marriott Vacations Worldwide to mentorship and being intrinsically motivated. She shares some of her spotlight with CLM’s 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Vic Marmo, who mentored her. She states, “We’re all as good as the leaders who develop us.”

Cabado also loves learning new skills and believes that being a forever student is a superpower. One of Cabado’s most significant accomplishments came when she took on her company’s entire workers’ compensation program after it doubled its workers’ comp footprint due to an acquisition. She took two separate programs with two different methodologies and got everyone involved to understand the challenges and see the common threads across both programs. She implemented key solutions into a program that is now running smoothly. Cabado created an e-learning platform for workers’ compensation and has conducted numerous training sessions and webinars. She has also created a committee within her department to leverage data and technology to empower business decisions and encourage cross-departmental cooperation.

Cabado, following Marmo’s lead, enjoys mentoring others. She says, “If anyone has the opportunity to approach the relationships they build more collaboratively, it really does impact the claims cost at the end of the day.” She also combines her passion for mentoring and teaching with her frequent speaking engagements at CLM conferences.

Cabado shares the skills she learned to build a more cohesive team environment and leads one of the company’s latest modernization initiatives. She also guides those outside of the industry, drawing from her own experiences to mentor students on the college experience and first post-college career.
