Caitlin McPhillips

Whether it’s standing out at her job and being chosen to serve as the first adjuster at a key Berkley operating unit, or standing out as a rising star at CLM, Caitlin McPhillips knows how to make an impression.

McPhillips moved over to the claims side of the business after initially working at a law firm. From there, she made a quick impression at Vela Insurance Services, and when her manager moved over to the recently formed Berkley Construction Solutions (BCS), he hired McPhillips to be BCS’ first adjuster.

Reflecting on what might be seen as an intimidating challenge to many, McPhillips says, “I was definitely looking forward to it. I was excited.”

It is that outlook that drives McPhillips’ success and prompted her nominator to say, “I have no doubt that she will continue to excel and make significant contributions to the construction industry for years to come. She has covered substantial proverbial ground during the early part of her career, and is a thought leader with earned respect from her peers.”

Within CLM, McPhillips serves as a Young Professional liaison to the Construction Community leadership board. Perhaps most impressively, McPhillips was instrumental in working with other CLM members and fellows to revive CLM’s New York City Chapter, where she will serve as vice president for 2025.

When it comes to other young professionals looking to make their mark on the industry and succeed, McPhillips’ advice is direct and to the point: “Don’t give up on what you want to do.” In her own career, perseverance and sticking to it is what has made her a true Phenom.
